This blog features a biography of Leonardo DiCaprio, a Hollywood movie star. DiCaprio is a three-time Oscar nominee known for films such as “Inception” (2010), “Catch Me If You Can” (2002), and “Titanic”(1997). The achieving actor has been nominated nine times for the Golden Globe Award and won Best Actor for his performance in "The Aviator"(2004).

Eco-causes became a current fad in Hollywood, many stars conveniently promote their charity work just in time for the release of their next movie. However, DiCaprio has been consistently working on promoting environmental awareness. He devotes part of his time and money for green causes.

DiCaprio is an avid environmental activist. He walks his talk by being green in his personal life. He drives a hybrid car, opts to fly commercial instead of chartering private jets and has installed solar panels on the roof of his house. Last year, he became an equity investor and a brand ambassador for Fiskers Automotive, which produces hybrid cars.

In 1998, DiCaprio and his family established the Leonardo DiCaprio Foundation, in support of efforts to secure a sustainable future for our planet. The Foundation emphasizes on issues such as renewable energy resources, global warming and preserving biodiversity, supporting numerous non-profit organizations. The foundation build partnerships with selected organizations and fund projects for a better planet.

DiCaprio sits on the board of several organizations dedicated to these issues including the World Wildlife Fund (WWF), Global Green USA and the International Fund for Animal Welfare (IFAW).
